The ins and outs of West Ham’s summer transfer window
The door has been shut on the EPL’s summer transfer window, and West Ham United got busy. We take a look back at all of the movement that took place.
At times, it felt as if West Ham weren’t doing anything this summer. However, on the contrary, they were quite busy. David Moyes has been slowly, quietly working on making West Ham everything he wants it to be, and it’s starting to show.
In starting with the departures, let’s look at who left East London, both on loan and permanently.
West Ham’s Significant Permanent Departures
Xande Silva
A few years back,A few years back, what was hoped to be a massive Academy experiment enhas finally been shut down. After spending all of last season on loan, the Portuguese winger was sold to Nottingham Forest on deadline day.
Fabian Balbuena
Fabian Balbuena wasn’t transferred out; more let go. West Ham decided not to renew his contract at the beginning of the window, as there wasn’t enough room for him in the center of defense. The Paraguayan has since moved on, and we wish him well.
Felipe Anderson
When West Ham signed Felipe Anderson, the bar was set extremely high, and he met all the expectations during his first season or two. From there, the drop to reality was extreme. After failing to earn time, he spent all season on loan and eventually headed back to Lazio.
Hammer’s Notable Loaned out Players
Joseph Anang
The U20 goalkeeper has been lights out so far on his loan to Stevenage. Joseph Anang has already stopped three penalty shots and is looking like a future starter for the Hammers.
Nathan Holland
West Ham’s “ever experiment” has once again been loaned out to Oxford United. The once Young Hammer of the Year has had injury setbacks, which is the next step in his comeback.
Conor Coventry
Very much the surprise of the window was West Ham letting Conor Coventry go. For a time, the Hammers were thin at every position,, and Coventry was filling the void well. Coventry has been allowed to help Petersborough United for the year with a few incoming stars with a few incoming stars.
Mipo Odubeko
Although West Ham only has one striker on the books, loaning Mipo Odubeko is good business. Odubeko has landed at Huddersfield United for the year and will look to help them make a push towards the EPL.
Nathan Trott
Nathan Trott has been a name on West Ham’s loan list before, and he is again. This time he headed off to the French Ligue 2 club, and AS Nancy. Like Holland, Trott has spent a lot of time on loan as the Hammers look to see what they have.
Frederik Alves
Promising left-back, Frederik Alves, is headed out to Sunderland for the season. With Cresswell and Masuaku ahead of him, there wasn’t much playing time to be had. This is a solid move for the youngster to show what he has.
