West Ham: David Moyes up for Manager of the Month
West Ham boss, David Moyes, has been shortlisted for the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award for August, a nomination assuredly well earned.
Over his most recent stint with the club, David Moyes has been nominated quite a few times for this prestigious award. While at West Ham, he has never won Manager of the Month, but he has won it ten times over the course of his career, the last time coming in 2013 with the Toffies.
Even though there haven’t been any matches played this week, and there won’t be this weekend, it feels like Moyes has been on top of the world. Tuesday’s deadline day turned out excellent for West Ham as the Gaffer harnessed two massive signings before 11 pm hit. There might be a few question marks with the depth of the squad, but there aren’t a lot of questions surrounding him.

So, how did we get here? Follow along. David Moyes led West Ham United to seven points in the opening month of the season, a feat that is new to the Hammers. They are flying high and sitting in 2nd in the EPL table at the moment.
The Hammers started their 2021/22 season in accelerated form, beating Newcastle United 4-2 at St. James’ Park to open the campaign. Twice West Ham came from behind during the curtain-raiser to earn all three points.
West Ham opened up at home against Leicester City, where they up another four-goal display against the Foxes. Michail Antonio became the Hammer’s all-time leader in EPL goals, and Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma kept their form going to notch a 4-1 victory and place them at the top of the Premier League table.

Last time out, the Hammers showed that they are real in a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace. They started out hot in this match, only to let all three points slip away in the end. However, the draw did ensure that they finished the first month undefeated and full of confidence.
Back at the beginning of this article, it was mentioned that Moyes has already won this award ten times. Who has won it more, you might ask? Only Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger have heard their names called more times than David Moyes.
Voting is open now, but it closes on Monday, September 6th at 12 pm, with the winner announced that following Friday. It’s an award that Moyes is certainly deserving of and should win. To ensure he does, make sure you go vote for the Gaffer, and as always, COME ON YOU IRONS!
