West Ham star, Pablo Fornals, has been called up to the Spanish national team for their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.

The 25-year-old has been in outstanding form, registering a goal and an assist so far this season, and as a result, he has found his way back into the Spain squad for the first time since 2018.

Luis Enrique’s side, who reached the semi-final of Euro 2020 this summer, will play Sweden, Georgia, and Kosovo in qualification Group B.

Pablo Fornals’ fine form in a West Ham shirt has earned him a call-up to the Spain squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

The Spaniard was instrumental in West Ham’s 4-1 victory over Leicester and looked to have nailed his place in the Hammers’ attack alongside Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma, and record-breaking Michail Antonio.

Fornals has two senior caps to his name already, now has the chance to cement his place in the senior team following 17 caps at the Under-21 level. He was also part of the squad that won the Under-21 European Championships in 2019, scoring two goals on Spain’s route to victory.

He has been nearing the Spanish first team for some time now. He was named on the standby list in June for Euro 2020, following Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets tested positive for Covid-19.

However, this time he makes the squad partly due to Spain’s involvement in the Olympic Games. The likes of Dani Olmo, Mikel Oyarzabal, and Pedri, who all took part in Euro 2020 and the Olympics, have been left out of the squad for a rest as they did not get a break over the summer.

Fornals, who is becoming a fan’s favorite, is not the only West Ham player to be earning a call up for September’s internationals.

‘Czech mates’ Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek are part of the Czech Republic squad who will face number one ranked team Belgium amongst others. Andriy Yarmolenko joins up with the Ukraine team following on from a fantastic Euros performance and Declan Rice will once again be involved with England.
