Questions #3: I heard a rumor that your dad and Bobby Moore ended up on a trading card together?

Bobby Moore first appeared on a trading card in a West Ham team group given away with ‘Lion’ magazine during the 1959-60 season. My Dad is second from the left in the back row, while Bobby is far right. That card has become a lot more sought-after over the last couple of years in light of the craze for collecting ‘rookie’ (first) cards/stickers of star players. Here’s a link to the card.

My brother had been a keen football sticker/card collector, and it was he who got me into collecting Panini stickers (starting with ‘Football 79’). While it was a long time ago, I can only guess he bought me a lot of packets as we got within one sticker of completing the album (St. Mirren badge). You can find Billy in the West Ham team group sticker in Panini’s Football 81 album.

Questions #4: Tell us about becoming an author and where we can find your books

My first book about football stickers – Stuck On You – came out in 2015, and that was later adapted into an ITV documentary in 2017. I seem to have become a bit of an unofficial spokesperson for the football collectibles industry since the release of my first book.

I have appeared in almost every national newspaper in England, various news channels, radio stations, and podcasts around the world, written a host of articles, and provided PR advice to several companies in the business.

My next book on the subject is an official collaboration with Panini to celebrate their 60th birthday this year (due out on November 25th, published by Bloomsbury). You can expect a good smattering of West Ham stickers to appear!

It’s fair to say that even if Greg doesn’t support West Ham, he certainly has tons of good stories and times shared around the club. We want to thank Mr. Greg Lansdowne again for the amazing interview he put on. You can find Greg and his Paninis on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram by clicking the links. Be sure to check out his books as well, and as always, COME ON YOU IRONS!
