4th: Liverpool

The first Champions League spot goes to the Reds from Liverpool. I know they finished 3rd last year with their star defense Virgil Van Dijk missing basically the whole season due to injury but they just didn’t improve enough. All the teams around the Reds have been making very strong signings while Liverpool’s only business so far this window has been buying center back Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig. Don’t get me wrong Konate is a great player and I think him and Van Dijk will form a great partnership at the back. I just can’t help but think some of these other big clubs left them behind.

If Liverpool want to challenge for a title again this year they will need Thiago to step up and fill that hole Wijnaldum left when he went to PSG. Not only that but Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will have to perform a lot better than they did last year. If Firmino continues to slump I can see Diogo Jota taking over that center forward role with Mane and Salah playing off of him.

The Reds have the potential to challenge for a title this year but they would need to have much better team performances than they did last season.
