8th: Tottenham

Another year, another outside the top 6 finish for Spurs. I do think that Tottenham have a better chance of getting back into the top 6 this year than last year but will ultimately end up just short. Jose Mourinho was sacked right before the end of last season and this summer Spurs replaced him with former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Nuno has proven he can manage well in the Premier League taking Wolves to consecutive 7th place finishes including in their first season back up in 2018/19. One thing that might hurt Spurs though is the strength of their squad. A key to them having a good season is going to be keeping Harry Kane amid all the interest from Manchester City. If Kane leaves I don’t really see Heung-Min Son carrying the rest of this team to the top 6.

Tottenham have brought in a couple new faces with their big signing so far being center back Cristian Romero from Atalanta. Romero should tighten that back line up that seemed very vulnerable at times last season. Spurs dipped back into the Atalanta pond signing goalie Pierluigi Gollini on loan to provide cover for Hugo Lloris.

The last bit of business Spurs have completed so far was the swap deal of Erik Lamela to Sevilla for Bryan Gil. The 20 year old Spaniard is said to be a very exciting prospect for Spain so this move might be one that pays off later rather than sooner.

In the end, Spurs season all depends on if Harry Kane stays or leaves.
