Not all is lost as West Ham look to sign this European ace
The list is continuing to pile up when you look at who West Ham might sign. With that in mind, the Hammers look to this European ace to help them forward.
West Ham transfer rumors have always been like a swarm of mosquitoes attacking something sweet, thick, fast, and usually inescapable. After a weekend of hoping and waiting for a new signing to showcase Hammer’s new away kits, all we are left with is more rumors, but this time, they come from some reasonably credible sources.
Both 90min and the West Ham ITK, ExWHUemployee, have linked Liverpool’s Divock Origi to the Hammers. Origi’s name has come up before, but as the Hammers look to secure the striker position going into the Europa League campaign, his name has once again fallen upon us.
On the West Ham Way Podcast, Ex explained that West Ham is still very much in the hunt for Tammy Abraham, but if that deal cannot get across the table, the Hammers will look to Origi. Origi may not be everyone’s first pick, but he has shown his best self during European competitions, which is precisely what David Moyes needs next season.
Not all is lost as West Ham look to sign this European ace
The 26-year-old came onto the senior circuit back in 2013 while playing for LOSC Lille. Since that time, he has played in 35 matches which involved him in some European competitions. In that timeframe, he has produced six goals and three assists. Last season was a down year for him in Europe, but his past endeavors will lead you in another direction.
Back in 2018/19, Origi was thrown in the Lion’s den and came out on top. He had to answer the call for Liverpool when they faced FC Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final and then again in the finals against Tottenham. Both times he was instrumental in securing the victory, somewhat labeling him a European ace.
West Ham head into the 2021/22 season with a squad that is largely unfamiliar with the European stage. Bringing in Origi can give David Moyes the correct type of player to perform mentally during the most critical phase the Hammers have faced in some time. Divock Origi is aware of what it takes and could be a vital asset to them if the deal can get done.
