Once again, West Ham have been beaten by Manchester United this season. The Hammers fell to the Red Devils at Old Trafford by a single goal. Sadly it just so happened to be a Craig Dawson own-goal. The performance of the team was almost a replica of their FA Cup showing against the same opposition.

Player Ratings – Goalkeeper

Defence

Vladimir Coufal 6/10

He was caught out by Craig Dawson’s leave which forced him to make the mistake that led to the corner and the subsequent goal. Besides the mistake, Coufal put in another good shift and was up and down the right-hand-side like normal. Coufal has managed some of the league’s best attackers. However, Marcus Rashford is one that does cause him some issues.

Not a lot of high-scorers for West Ham this week against Manchester United. Lukasz Fabianski and Declan Rice, however, were clear standouts.

Issa Diop 6/10

Diop was saved some blushes after his poor touch allowed Dan James a clear run at goal. However, Diop did manage to do the rest of his defensive responsibilities very well and did break up a lot of the Manchester United attacks.

Craig Dawson 4/10

Unfortunately for Dawson, this was his worst game for the Hammers since coming into the side. The defender looked shakey and took to many unnecessary risks, but was bailed out by Fabianski on multiple occasions. The defender was at fault for the own-goal, and it was his leave that lead to the ball going out for a corner from which the goal came from.

Aaron Cresswell 5/10

It was a quiet night for Cresswell. The defender only managed to get forward on a couple of occasions but was wasteful when he had the opportunity to put the ball in the box. Defensively though, Cresswell did not do much wrong.

Ben Johnson 61′ 5/10

It was a tough evening for Ben Johnson, who was again playing on the wrong side in the first half and then as a winger for some of the second period. The defender did his job in the opening 45 minutes but was a fish out of water when playing as a winger.
