It has been reported that Scottish giants Celtic are contemplating trying to take David Moyes north of the border. The West Ham manager has worked wonders since his return to the club, and it comes as no surprise to see him attract interest from elsewhere. The Hammers under Moyes have escaped a relegation battle and are now challenging for a European place next season.

Celtic has hit a club crisis this season. Arch-rival Rangers have re-established themselves as the best in Scotland after winning the Scottish Premier League. Rangers also stopped the Bhoys from making it ten in a row. To rub salt in the wounds, Steven Gerrard’s side are succeeding in the Europa League, whereas Celtic finished bottom of their group.

Ex-manager Neil Lennon had come under fire after Gerrard’s rise with Rangers. Lennon was not a progressive manager and inherited a brilliant team from Brendan Rodgers when he was reappointed to the hot seat at Celtic Park.

David Moyes has attracted interest from Celtic, who are keen to hire the West Ham manager to replace former manager Neil Lennon.

Lennon’s sacking at Celtic was down to him not meeting the high standards from the Scottish giants. Considering Ranger’s recent financial troubles, Celtic should never have conceded the title this soon. There is not a lot of competition in the SPL, and Celtic had a monopoly of power for almost a decade. To let it slip so easily is incredibly worrying.

While the Celtic job is massive in Scotland, David Moyes is happy at West Ham. The manager was out of work since leaving the Hammers the first time, and it is at the London Stadium where Moyes feels at home. The growth the club has enjoyed under Moyes has been remarkable, and he has triggered a twelve-month extension to keep him at the club until the summer of 2022.

The interest from a club like Celtic is a wake-up call for the West Ham hierarchy. Moyes deserves a new contract after the work he has done. The possibility of seeing the positive changes go to waste with Moyes leaving would be horrific for the club. So make sure it does not happen and get him tied down.
