Where are they now? West Ham targets from last striker hunt
By Louis Pye
Michy Batshuayi
Michy Batshayi is the modern-day version of Eidur Gudjohnsen, where it certainly feels, at least, that he is linked with West Ham during every transfer window.
Whether a genuine link or not, his name seems to pop up solely for the purpose of Hammers fans reliving the previous times where the club have seemingly been interested in him.

The Belgian was first on West Ham’s radar, similarly to Bacca and Lacazette, during the summer of 2016, when he was a hot prospect playing in Ligue 1 for Marseille.
He had just scored 23 goals at the age of 21 and was considered to be one of the most promising young strikers in Europe, which peaked the interest of the Hammers among other clubs.
West Ham, who had just qualified for the Europa League for the following season, reportedly bid £31.5m for the Marseille man, but like the aforementioned failed signings, failed to land their man.
He eventually signed for London rivals Chelsea that same summer and went on to win the Premier League during his first season at the club – scoring the championship-winning goal despite his lack of playing time.
Since then, however, his career has somewhat stalled – if not gone downhill – as after several loan spells at the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Valencia, he is now residing at Crystal Palace, where he has netted just one goal in 18 appearances for the club thus far.
Despite the Hammers fanbase having been eager to sign him in the past, those days are now long gone as the trajectories of the player and club have seemingly gone in opposite directions.
