It is well known that West Ham will be in the market for a new striker once the summer transfer window opens. The Hammers have been linked to players far and wide as they search for that mystery man that will finally be the club’s 15 goals a season star.

West Ham have now been linked with Besiktas goal machine Cyle Larin. There have even been reports that the club tried to sign the striker during the January transfer window. The Hammers at the time were desperate to sign a replacement for Sebastien Haller but failed to sign any attacking player except for Jesse Lingard.

It’s believed that the Hammers are weighing up a summer transfer for Larin. The striker has impressed in Turkey this season, scoring 13 goals and assisting a further three in the Super Lig this term. Larin is currently averaging better than a goal every other game. A record that is impressive for a striker.

West Ham are in desperate need of signing another striker as Michail Antonio is the only recognised senior striker at the club.

The Ontario born striker is blessed with pace and is able to play across the front-three. This utility is a trait that David Moyes looks for in his players. The manager is a big fan of players that are able to fulfil multiple roles in the team; the signings of Lingard and Said Benrahma will support this.

On paper, Larin looks to be a solid striking option for the Hammers. The main concerns would be over his ability to perform in the Premier League. There had been question marks over the striker’s ability to perform in Europe after moving from Orlando City.

The 25-year-old has been consistent for all of his clubs, whether they be in the MLS or in Belgium, so this could show promise that Larin would make the step up for West Ham. However, a price tag of £15 million could be considered steep looking at his CV.

The striker’s current value is similar to that of Blackburn’s Adam Armstrong, who would be much less of a risk. The Rovers striker has been on fire in the Championship and should be able to acclimatise to the Premier League quicker than Larin.
