West Ham Looking To Cash In On Manuel Lanzini
Manuel Lanzini could find his days numbered at West Ham as it has been reported that the club are looking to sell the midfielder in the summer. Claret and Hugh are suggesting that a fee of £15 million would be enough for the Hammers to part way with their Jewel.
Lanzini has played a bit-part role at West Ham over the last two seasons. Injury has hampered the midfielder’s ability to reach the potential he showed earlier on in his career. When David Moyes returned to the club, there was hope that he would get the best out of the midfielder again.
Even Moyes was unable to get the player that Hammers fans fell in love with going again. The Scottish manager has preferred Pablo Fornals to Lanzini generally. Though Lanzini does play occasionally, it is not to the same standard that fans want to see from him.
There were reports that Lanzini could have been on his way out of the club in January. A move to Marseille looked the most likely, but nothing came to fruition. In fact, it is believed that Andre Villas-Boas wanted Lanzini but was given Olivier Ntcham instead, leading to the manager and club parting ways.
Manuel Lanzini could be deemed surplus to requirements and could be on his way out of West Ham in the summer transfer window.
The Argentine midfielder arrived at West Ham for the final season at the Boleyn Ground. Lanzini was at first outshone by the brilliance that was Dimitri Payet. Once the Frenchman left the club a year and a half later, Lanzini stepped out of the shadow and quickly became the club’s talisman.
Lanzini went on to form a great partnership with Marko Arnautovic. The form the midfielder showed was good enough to earn him a call-up to the 2018 Argentina national world cup squad until that nasty injury struck him down.
There have been plenty of memorable moments form Lanzini’s time with the Hammers. The Argentine has scored brilliant goals against Tottenham, Chelsea, Everton and Crystal Palace to mention a few. Hopefully, Lanzini will make a couple more moments of magic happen before he does leave.
The price of £15 million would be a coup for the Hammers as Lanzini’s value has definitely depreciated in recent years. The money could then be reinvested into the playing staff, potentially to be used to sign Jesse Lingard on a permanent deal.
