After back to back results that didn’t go the way of West Ham United, they will need to get back on track Monday evening against Sheffield United.

Injuries, slow starts, and lack of care have been just a few words surrounding West Ham over the past few times out on the pitch. Their 1-0 loss to Manchester United is most recently finding the Hammers out of the FA Cup. Is the Hammers form about to dip, or has this all just been a glitch during a busy time of the year?

Four months back, West Ham and Sheffield faced off during one of the Blade’s worst runs of forms in recent history. After and goalless first half, former striker Sebastien Haller put the Hammers in front with the match’s only goal. Since then, Sheffield still sits at the bottom of the table, but they have shown grit over the past few weeks.

The troubling news of injuries has flared up again, as Angelo Ogbonna is out for at least a month, and Andriy Yarmolenko will be out most likely until the end of the year. The likes of Diop, Balbuena, and Michail Antonio will all be “match time decisions” leading up to the match.

The club still sits in 6th place and will only a few months left in the season, will certainly be eying European nights. David Moyes knows that if his side wins on Monday night, they will sit above the defending champions and riding high into a pretty significant patch of matches.

As recently mentioned, the Blades have been a better side as of late with a win in every other PL match. They recently accomplished what the Hammers hadn’t and advanced into the next round of the FA Cup, so their confidence will be running high.

West Ham doesn’t need any more motivation than to take all six points from Sheffield this season and to advance up the table midway through February. With injuries and question marks rising, this would be the best time to put all of those sceptics at bay and start the week on the winning side of things.
