West Ham should be eager to attack a vulnerable Liverpool
By Jay Korman
What a season West Ham United are having! After another victory, this time against Crystal Palace, the Hammers are flying higher and higher up the table, and look to be in serious contention for a European position.
However, up next comes a daunting task, and the Irons will face a massive game against Liverpool, with a spot in the top 4 up for grabs. With so many storylines and things to talk about regarding this crucial match, one of the major storylines will be the fitness of the Liverpool squad, specifcally the defense.
Liverpool had a brutal match against Spurs on Thursday, and although they came away with all three points, Joel Matip was also lost to injury, and is a major doubt to be fit for the match on Sunday.
The Reds will be without Van Dijk, Gomez, Fabinho, and Matip for the match against West Ham this Sunday at the London Stadium.
This does not mean of course that West Ham should take this game lightly. Liverpool are the reigning Premier League Champions and still have one of the best squads in the world.
West Ham will have to be very wary of players like Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, who have crushed the Irons in the past. However, David Moyes and this Hammers squad must be very aggressive and take it to the Liverpool defense, who at the very least will be inexperienced playing with each other.
For this West Ham fan personally, I think this could be a huge match for Antonio to shine. After a tough match against Palace, Antonio will be hungry and eager to get back out on the pitch and finish some of the chances that he missed against Palace in the midweek.
Expect Liverpool to have a fair share of the possesion in this match, which means West Ham will have to be very clinical on the counter in order to get a result out of the game.
I do not expect the lineup to change at all from the Palace game unless there is some kind of last second injury, as it seems the current XI has been performing fantastically for David Moyes over the past couple of matches.
Let’s hope that the Irons can finish their chances and get a big result out of this crucial match. Come on you Irons!
