After scoring four against Doncaster Rovers last Saturday to earn the right to play Manchester United in the 5th round of the FA Cup, West Ham backed up their goalscoring feats by smashing three goals past the Eagles, courtesy of two goals from Czech dynamite Tomas Soucek and one from the surprise of the season Craig Dawson.

These goals were sandwiched between a third-minute strike from Wilfried Zaha and a last-second consolation goal from former Hammers target Michy Batshuayi, which ultimately flattered the home side and deceived non-viewers of the game into believing that it was a tight encounter.

Michail Antonio will be the most disappointed to have not found the back of the Palace net having scored two winning goals in West Ham’s two previous Premier League games against Burnley and West Brom respectively but seemingly left his shooting boots back at London Stadium as he had four glorious opportunities to score, two of which crashed against the woodwork – extending the Hammers’ lead at the top of the “hit woodwork” table, now at 13.

West Ham fans will be delighted to see the Hammers back in red-hot goalscoring form, but on another day, they could have embarrassed Crystal Palace.

Antonio’s support cast is starting to click, too, with Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen in form along with Said Benrahma who is truly starting to display his quality in the top-flight on a weekly basis.

With the current Premier League champions Liverpool up next for the Irons on Sunday, it is unlikely – though not impossible given their current form – that West Ham hand out a thumping, but with the way that David Moyes has got his side playing with six consecutive wins in all competitions, it is surely only a matter of time until an unfortunate side is on the end of an unforgiving thrashing by the Hammers.
