West Ham must get this Striker signing correct to move up the table
By Jay Korman
After years of failed signings at the striker position, West Ham desperately need to get this right in order to push on to greater things in the Premier League.
After all of the shock and hysteria of the move started to calm down on social media, one major issue remained. Sébastien Haller was a member of AFC Ajax. Regardless of what you thought about Haller and his performances, the simple fact of the situation is that West Ham United are once again in the hunt for a top striker.
Haller was underwhelming during his tenure at the London Stadium, but always had that little bit of quality that could come out on any given day. The Hammers no longer have that option.
Although it will be assumed that Michail Antonio will take over the main striker duties for the rest of the season, it will be tough to rely on someone so heavily impacted by injuries. David Moyes knows that he will need another option.
For West Ham United, the search for a top striker has always been a tough one. Although maybe not for lack of effort, this club cannot seem to find their next great striker. This is an issue that has now plagued the club for many years, and failure to bring in a new man could result in some serious issues for an overachieving Irons squad at the moment.
Now of course, the Hammers have already been linked with every striker who has ever played a match of professional football in Europe.
From new stars and wonderkids like Patson Daka from RB Salzburg or Abdullah Sima from Slavia Prague to former Premier League villain Diego Costa, the Hammers have been linked with every kind of striker under the sun.
At this point in the process, it would be tough to figure out and debate what the club are going to do in this situation. There are a plethora of different players we could sign, and all would help bolster the squad for this season.
However, for this fan personally, we just really need to get this signing right. We have all seen so far this season that the Hammers have something special going with this core group of players.
If the board, along with Moyes, are finally able to land this elusive striker saviour that we all hoped Haller would be, we would have a great chance of fighting towards the top of the table all the way till the end. Get it right!
