West Ham take on Stockport County in the third round of the FA Cup and the Green St. Hammers believes the Irons should take care of business.

West Ham travels to the Greater Manchester area to take on Stockport County at Edgeley Park. The Hammers look to advance to the 4th Round of the prestigious domestic tournament for the fourth straight season. Our resident experts at Green St. Hammers believe that the club will be able to do so with ease against the non-league side.

Justin: Stockport County 1- 3 West Ham

Admittedly, I do not know much about Stockport County. I do know they are in the fifth tier of English football, technically a non-league side. However, they have only lost twice in the last two months and should take some confidence into this match.

West Ham have faced lower-league competition in this phase of the FA Cup in each of the past four years, advancing into the next round each time. But West Ham have also struggled with lower-league teams in both the League and FA Cup competitions.

While I do hesitate slightly, I do believe the Irons will win this match fairly comfortably. A non-league side, no matter how good of form they are in, has no business beating a Premier League side.

But that is why you play the game. This is a potential banana skin but I have to go with the odds here. The talent disparity on paper is obvious and Moyes’ team have been well-organized, disciplined, and effective on the pitch as well. It would be a tremendous upset if the Hammers end up losing this one, but I do not think they will.

Lou: Stockport County 0 – 3 West Ham

No matter what team we put out, we should be winning this match.

And if David Moyes is to gain further respect from the club’s fanbase, then he will be sure to take this tie, and the cup, seriously, which previous Hammers managers – including during his first spell – have often failed to do.

It will be interesting to see what team he puts out, especially whether it will include some youth players or not. But as long as everyone who plays puts in maximum effort, our quality should shine through against non-league opposition.

Jeremiah: Stockport County 0 – 3 West Ham

The FA Cup, and the lower-league sides that make up the competition, always bring magic. However, I think the Hammers will be far away from that curse, for now. I am hopeful to see the heart that David Moyes brought when talking about a Cup run.

Look for some fresh faces and a surprise on the scoreline. Stockport will come to play but it’s doubtful that they will be able to keep up for long! I’d hate to sound overly optimistic, but I’m going to be! West Ham win big and quickly move on!

Henry: Stockport County 1-3 West Ham

West Ham should have more than enough in their locker to fly past Stockport but as this weekend has shown no opposition is easy in the FA Cup. Brighton were taken all the way by Newport, Leeds were beaten by Crawley Town, the Hammers need to be careful in the match.

Moyes is expected to name a strong side and it should easily have enough quality to beat the non-league side. Though it would not be surprising to see the Hatters notch a goal and give everyone a scare early on.

Adam: Stockport County 0 – 5 West Ham

While there can always be the chance that any Premier League team slips up against opposition in lower divisions in Cup action, I don’t see David Moyes messing around with his team in this competition. The squad is already thin and the U23s recently had a COVID-19 outbreak, meaning the expanded bench will be filled with top tier talent waiting to stat pad against Stockport.

I expect Andriy Yarmolenko to be firing and Said Benrahma to take this opportunity to show David Moyes exactly the type of player he is. I also think a lot of West Ham possession means a lot of setpiece deliveries and a few centre-backs could get in on the scoring.
