West Ham’s Tomas Soucek has started to be recognised as the quality player he is and has been nominated for December’s player of the month.

Tomas Soucek was in brilliant form during the Christmas month scoring three goals in six games. The high point for the Czech midfielder was scoring the winning goal against Everton in West Ham’s final match of 2020.

While impressing in front of goal, Soucek also put in tireless displays for the defence. The 25-year-old made thirteen clearances and completed seventy-five per cent of his passes during the month. Soucek also played every minute of the month as he has done for the rest of the season.

The performances from Soucek and co meant that the Hammers are still in tenth in the Premier League after a solid start to the season. West Ham are at the bottom of a very tight and competitive top half. While there were other top performances, Soucek is the Hammer to be nominated for player of the month.

Soucek has been immense for West Ham since his arrival from SK Slavia Prague in January 2020, and Hammers fans were instantly impressed by his ability. Now the rest of the league seem to be taking notice of the box-to-box midfielder.

Despite only become a permanent fixture at the London Stadium last summer, Soucek’s performances have attracted interest from across Europe. Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for the player, but considering his long contract, the Hammer’s are confident of keeping hold of him.

In fact, Soucek could be in line for a new bumper contract in East London. There have been reports of this, and it is not surprising that he is valued so highly by the Hammers. Soucek would definitely be deserving of a reward for his efforts thus far.
