West Ham are in need of reinforcements as their squad is looking incredibly thin as the fixture congestion starts to take a toll.

As Arthur Masuaku is set to be on the sidelines for the foreseeable future and Aaron Cresswell is struggling by himself, West Ham are targeting a new left-back. One player that the Hammers should target is Brentford’s Rico Henry. The Englishman was brilliant last season during the Bees promotion challenge.

Henry has become one of the best defenders in the Championship. The 23-year-old has played twenty times this season, scoring one goal and assisting two more. Henry possesses amazing pace, which helps him command the left-side of the pitch. This pace also means he can get back to defend even if a mistake has been made.

Able to play as a left-back and a left-wing-back, Henry would allow Moyes to move between systems easily. A back-five could be kept for more defensive games although it would allow Cresswell the freedom to create as seen earlier this season. Henry could also be trusted in a back-four, for when the team want to attack more.

West Ham have also been linked to another Brentford star, Josh Dasilva. The central midfielder can play across the midfield and is one of the most promising players in the championship. The Englishman has scored two goals and provided three assists this season. Dasilva is also very mobile and could perform a similar role to that of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

The major issue with moves for either player is West Ham having to negotiate with Brentford. The Hammers are believed to have majorly disrupted their relationship between the two clubs after the fiasco that was the deal for Said Benrahma. The Algerian joined the East London side at the end of the domestic window, but the terms of his deal changed multiple times, much to the annoyance of Brentford.

Though bitterness aside, money talks. If David Gold and David Sullivan are willing to back David Moyes this January, the Bees duo could be a very good start.
