West Ham must get more clinical to finish in the top half
By Jay Korman
So far throughout the 2020 Premier League campaign, West Ham have exceeded expectations, but have a key issue that must be fixed.
Coming off of a tough loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, many West Ham supporters would tell you that the performance from the squad was not even half bad.
The Irons kept a fair share of the possession, and really had Chelsea on their heels towards the end of the first half, and continued that pressure in the second half.
However, when going up against a top club, you must be able to finish the chances that you do create. The Hammers have had this problem over the past couple of matches, and it finally stung them in a tough loss.

It seems as though this squad has found an identity under David Moyes. West Ham will always be a tough team to break down, with some very explosive attacking options up front.
However, if this squad of Hammers wants to finish in the top half of the league table, which this fan believes they can, then something needs to be done about players in the team finishing more chances.
Take Sébastien Haller for example. Regardless of what your opinion on Haller is, it is very clear that he can be a good finisher. He has shown in multiple games for the Hammers his quality, so where is the issue?
The issue for Seb, and all of the attackers, to be honest, is consistency. West Ham must be more consistent at taking their chances. It can separate the mid-table teams from the top teams, and as of right now, West Ham are struggling to get it right.
Now I don’t even think a major shift or change to the lineup would solve this problem. The Hammers have quality in the attack, it just comes down to actually finishing the chances.
When playing some of the teams lower down the table, you can afford to miss some chances, especially with the way our defence has been playing this season.
It just seems as though when you are playing some of the top clubs in the world, you must take these chances. The Hammers could beat anyone in the Premier League if more clinical in front of goal.
With Michail Antonio coming back soon, the attack should receive a huge boost of confidence and skill. Let’s hope the Hammers can get back to scoring loads of goals, and start to climb back up the table towards the Holidays!
