West Ham vs Manchester United | The Inside Track On the Red Devils
West Ham takes on Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend as the Hammer look to make it four wins in a row.
After beating Aston Villa, West Ham goes into the match fifth in the Premier League only four points off Tottenham in first. Manchester United, however, are only one point and four places behind that Hammers.
Both sides are joint top in terms of form over the last three games. The two sides have won all of the previous three matches. To get the inside track on the Red Devils, GSH spoke to Manchester United fansite ‘Red Devil Armada‘.
1. Despite the win against Southampton, United haven’t looked as good as they did towards the end of last season, what’s gone wrong?
It is just a matter of finding their form at the moment. This season has been up-and-down for the Red Devils. There have been some incredible results, like the 5-0 win against RB Leipzig. On the other hand, there was the 6-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur as well. Obviously, injuries have not helped Solskjaer either.
2. Could Ole go?
Like every other manager in the Premier League, it is just a matter of a few bad games on the trot and Solskjaer could be shown the exit door. But over his tenure at the club, he has shown that he works best when his back is against the wall. So do not expect him to be gone anytime soon.
3. Who are the United dangermen West Ham should look out for?
It goes without saying that Bruno Fernandes has been the talisman for this United side. Edinson Cavani has also looked dangerous over the past few weeks and could make the difference.
4. What weaknesses are there in the United team that can be exposed?
Manchester United’s defence has been their Achilles’ heel lately and obviously, that is something that the Hammers will be looking to expose. It is also hard to predict how this team will perform on any given day. So, David Moyes could be in for either a nightmare or his easiest day at the office in a long time.
5. What have you made of West Ham this season?
Coming into the season they were one of the favourites to be a part of a relegation battle, so till now, they have done exceptionally well to be where they are right now. But it is still early season and things can change very quickly in football.
6. Which player worries you the most?
Till now, it has been a team effort for the Hammers to be honest. So I’d be more worried about them putting out a resolute defence that holds off the Man United attackers than any individual player.
7. Many players have played for both sides including Carlos Tevez, Michael Carrick and Rio Ferdinand, but who is your favourite to play for both sides?
Rio Ferdinand would have to be a personal favourite for all the service that he gave to the club over the years. But all three of them were absolutely brilliant players in their own right. Paul Ince is someone I’d like to mention as well.
8. Match Prediction?
It’s a hard one to call because both teams have been in good form lately. But I’d have to go with a 2-1 for the Red Devils.
