David Moyes has solidified himself with West Ham since rejoining the club last season. As his contract nears an end, the club may look to offer a new deal.

Since the ageing Scotsman returned to West Ham, he has done everything that has been asked of his. In his 33 matches, he has won 12, drew 7, and lost 14; not to mention, he has the Hammers in the plus column with a goal differential of 51 goals for to 46 goals against. If you stopped right there, that would be enough of what to expect moving forward.

If we turned the clock around and looked back at his second coming with the Hammers, you won’t see much joy from anyone, including me, but that is surface level, and to truly analyze what he’s done for the club, we have to look much deeper. Yes, was his start to this renaissance slow? For sure, but if we knew then what we know now, the grumbling would’ve never happened.

One of the most noticeable things you will find in Moyes’ tenure is the club’s willingness to give it all, for all 90 minutes. When the Manuel Pellegrini era ended, he inherited a club that was sluggish and weakminded. A year later, they are anything but.

You never would’ve seen a Hammer’s side come back from being 3 down, or keep the pressure on to ensure a hard-fought 3 points even if they didn’t deserve it, but because of Moyes and the backroom staff that he has assembled, they are rolling, and it finally shows on the pitch.

If West Ham resigns David Moyes, this is what to expect.

Winning, it’s what David Moyes does best! Get your laughs in, but was he wrong? So far, no. After a dismal start to the campaign, he switched up the formation. When his team was dying late into the match, he made a few impact subs, and the Spurs match was history. Even just last week, when the boys went level into the half, he made a move to secure the 3 points almost immediately.

Yes, changing the players’ mindset has been huge, and getting the club back to winning ways is exactly what was needed, but the best thing we’ve seen from Moyes once more is his player progression. Last go around, we saw a struggling winger flourish upfront. This time, he has taken more than a few dying commodities and brought them back to life.

Aaron Cresswell was, in everyone’s minds, done. West Ham couldn’t have sold him even if they wanted to, but Moyes took him and moved him to CB and gave him the confidence once more to succeed. Cressy’s LB partner, Arthur Masuaku, was another on the chopping block, now thriving in his new role further up the pitch. You see, Moyes takes what he has and makes it better.

He has continually, time and time again, taken that same mantra and worked it into the transfer market. GSB had very little to give over these past few windows, yet David Moyes has made it work. Brining in Tomas Soucek and the new terror down the right side, Vladimir Coufal. Two players that we not known but now are thriving at the highest level of professional football.

Does David Moyes come with all of the flash and pizzazz that some of the modern-day football managers do? No, but he does bring a willingness to succeed, a youthful exuberance, a heart for the game, and a way ahead. All things that are needed for West Ham now and in the years to come. Sign him up, and sign him up for as long as he wants!
