West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek is preparing himself for Czech Republic’s match against Germany in the Nations League tonight.

Tomas Soucek scored a dramatic late winning goal for West Ham against Fulham on the weekend. The win saw the Hammers collect all three points and moved up to 11th in the Premier League table.

Since joining the club in January, initially on loan, Soucek has become one of the first names on David Moyes teamsheet. The midfielder has formed a solid partnership with rising star Declan Rice, arguably one of the better duos in England’s top flight.

The midfielder along with Vladimir Coufal have both been called-up to the Czech Republic national team. The Czech Republic are due to play against Germany in a friendly match in Leipzig before continuing their Nations League campaign.

Soucek is prepared for what will be a very tough test. The midfielder has said that despite the match being a friendly match, the 25-year-old will be treating the match like any other. Initially, though the Czech did suggest it would be an ‘easy’ game.

"“Yeah, it’s a very easy game!”“But I am glad, because the last game we played Cyprus in a friendly game, and now it will be a friendly against Germany. We will enjoy preparing because we will look at how we can play next summer. There will be similar teams, for example, England, so when we come up against Germany it is a friendly, but every man will treat it like a normal game.Soucek speaking to West Ham."

After the match against Die Mannschaft, the Czech Republic will then turn their attentions to the Nations League. Soucek’s team will play against Isreal and Slovakia; both games will be played in the Czech Republic.

Victories in both of these games would give Soucek and Coufal a chance of overtaking Scotland in their group. They currently sit in second place, but finishing first would give them promotion to the Nations League A level.

In his interview, Soucek spoke of how he wants to play against the ‘best teams’ in the world. Winning promotion to the next level of the Nations League would mean the Czech Republic would be up against Europes top national sides.

"“We can play maybe with friends in the garden and win 10-0, but it is only fun. On the pitch, we want to play against the best teams in the world and show, if we can play against them, we can play against anyone.” Soucek on playing the world’s best"
