Fenerbahce Want West Ham’s Top Earner To Replace Enner Valencia
West Ham forward Andriy Yarmolenko is a reported target for Fenerbahce who are trying to find a replacement for former Hammer Enner Valencia.
Andriy Yarmolenko has featured very infrequently since David Moyes returned to manage West Ham back in January. This season the Ukrainian has only featured for ninety-seven minutes of the Hammers Premier League campaign.
The 31-year-old has had a mixed time at West Ham since joining from Borussia Dortmund back in 2018. Yarmolenko has scored nine goals and assisted five more in his forty-one appearances for the Hammers. Much of his time at the club has been spent on the sidelines, suffering major injuries in both of his full seasons at the club.
The forwards minutes to goal contribution might be quiet impressive. But when taking into consideration, he is currently the clubs top earner then the impression is quickly lost. According to spotrac Yarmolenko is earning £115,000 per week. This figure is £45,000 then the clubs next highest earner Michail Antonio who is on £70,000 per week.
Fenerbahce, however, is interested in bringing the forward to Turkey in the January transfer window. Yarmolenko could join a long list of players who have fallen from grace and ended up in Turkey, players such as Emmanuel Adebayor, Mario Gomez and strangely enough former Hammer Enner Valencia.
Yarmolenko is believed to be Fenerbahce’s chosen replacement for the Ecuadorian striker. Since leaving West Ham, Valencia has spent the majority of his time in Mexico playing for Tigres UANL with some success. The now 31-year-old played made 118 appearances for the side scoring thirty-four times and assisting fourteen other goals.
Valencia was released by the Mexican side last summer and found himself moving to Turkey with Fenerbahce offering him a deal. The move has not really worked out, one goal in eight appearances has apparently not impressed leading to the club’s interest in Yarmolenko.
If West Ham were to sell Yarmolenko, he would be remembered well by fans. The Ukrainian scored memorable goals against Manchester United, Everton and of course that winner against Chelsea.
