West Ham manager David Moyes has hinted that new signing Said Benrahma is getting closer full fitness and could be set for another appearance.

Said Benrahma joined West Ham on the deadline day of the domestic transfer window in dramatic fashion. The move was apparently agreed in the days building up to the deadline, but some issues with his medical the deal changed.

It was expected that the Algerian was to be bought by West Ham for a fee in the region on £25 million. But instead, Benrahma has joined the club on an initial season-long loan with the obligation to buy at the end of the campaign.

Despite signing at the start of the month, Benrahma has only featured for the Hammers once, last week against Liverpool. The winger came on to the pitch as a late substitute, barely playing for five minutes.

Manager David Moyes in his press conference today has now said that the Algerian is closing on full match fitness. The Scot has also spoken od Benrahma’s ability to integrate into the current squad.

"He got an introduction the other day at Liverpool and he’s getting closer to match fitness, so we’re pleased. He’s beginning to integrate well so we’re beginning to see what he’s capable of so he’ll be in and around the squad again.David Moyes on Benrahma"

West Ham fans are desperate to see more of their big summer signing, who lit up the Championship last season. Benrahma scored 17 goals and provided 9 assists last season for Brentford as they challenged for promotion.

The main competition Benrahma has for a position in the starting eleven is with Pablo Fornals. The two both play on the left-wing and the Spaniard is currently on good form. Fornals has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award. It might not be a foregone conclusion that Benrahma will walk into the starting line-up.
