Premier League Winner Praises West Ham’s Pablo Fornals
Former Premier League winning defender, Micah Richards has praised West Ham’s Spanish midfielder Pablo Fornals.
West Ham have had a good start to the season, despite a difficult fixture list. The Hammers sit 14th in the Premier League with eight points and a positive goal difference. It may seem low in the table, but considering the club have played Arsenal, Wolves, Leicester City, Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool, the club would have expected to be lower in the table.
One reason behind the Hammers good start to the season is David Moyes change to the team’s system. The tactical change has brought the best out of many of the players in the squad. One player in particular that has benefited is Pablo Fornals.
After a mixed first season, Fornals has established himself in the first-team playing on the left side of the midfield. The 24-year-old has become one of the club’s leaders in goal contributions this seasons, scoring two and assisting two more.
Speaking on SkySports former Manchester City and England defender, Micah Richards had plenty of praise for the inform Spaniard after the Hammers defeat to Liverpool. The retired defender applauded the midfielders current form and ability to position himself on the pitch.
"“Fornals has been absolutely on fire. He gets in some really good positions.”Micah Richards on Pablo Fornals."
The midfielder is a player that divides opinion amongst West Ham fans at the moment. Some fans want Fornals dropped in favour of new signing Said Benrahma, believing the Algerian would be better suited to play with Sebastien Haller. Other fans, however, see Fornals as one of the clubs more important players due to his work rate and productivity.
Despite Fornals’ impressive four-goal contributions, he has at times let himself down. The Spaniard squandered good chances against Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool, and it cost the side most against the Reds.
If Fornals had not missed those chances, he could be on at least five goals at least in the Premier League. Meaning he would likely be seen as one of the most inform players in the league. His position is under risk, with Benrahma keen to make an impact. But if Fornals can cut out the wastefulness, he will be one of the top players at the club.
