West Ham right-back, Ryan Fredericks, could be sold in January according to reports should the player’s valuation be met.
Ryan Fredericks was signed by West Ham two seasons ago as a free transfer from Fulham. Since the defenders move across London, Fredericks has had mixed success for the Hammers. The 28-year-old has suffered from injuries which have hurt his progress.
The pacey defender has shown at times during the last two years to be a competent right-back. But at other times Fredericks has been caught out which has seen his defensive capabilities question by West Ham fans.
Despite this mixed form, Fredericks started the season for the Hammers very well and was one of the better players of the squad before his injury. This injury to Fredericks saw the club more quickly to sign a new right-back in Vladimir Coufal to cover during the Englishman’s absence.
Coufal however, proved to be an instant hit and has cemented himself as the club’s first-choice right-back since his move from SK Slavia Prague. The success of Coufal means that since recovering from his injury, Fredericks has been stuck on the bench.
Claret and Hugh are now reporting that the club could accept an offer for the out of favour defender in the upcoming transfer window if his valuation is met. Fredericks was linked to a move to Southampton in the summer, but the Saints opted for Kyle Walker-Peters instead.
Hammers youngster Ben Johnson is still rated-highly by the club. It is thought that David Moyes sees Johnson as the long-term back-up to Coufal, leading to Fredericks transfer availability. The 28-year-old in January will only have 18 months left on his contract so now would be the best time to sell if ever.
Fredericks is valued at £3.8 million on transfermarkt.com, considering he was signed for ‘free’ any transfer fee received would be counted as profit which is no bad thing. But the club should try to get as much out of the right-back as possible,m especially if another Premier League club wants to sign him.
