West Ham are set to take on Manchester City, the Hammers are fresh off a great comeback against Spurs.
The match is set to be the toughest fixture of the season so far for West Ham. With kick-off drawing closer and closer for the Irons, the Green Street Hammers have of course given their predictions for the game.
Justin: West Ham United 1-3 Manchester City
A miraculous comeback to draw against Spurs surely has lifted all West Ham fans’ spirits and confidence in the squad. However, City are head and shoulders above West Ham. To be fair, they are head and shoulders above most teams in the Premier League.
Despite the talent disparity between the two sides, West Ham may have a chance to get a result. City just played a Champions League match on Wednesday and are set to play another this upcoming Tuesday. With Champions League a priority, City may not put their best squad available out to start this match.
Furthermore, City have had injury problems. Fernandinho is ruled out after picking up an injury on Wednesday and Kevin De Bruyne, Aymeric Laporte, and Nathan Ake all are doubts to play 90 minutes.
All that being said, City is such a deep squad that they have multiple starting-calibre players at each position and still will outshine West Ham on paper. While many fans are optimistic heading into this match, that usually spells doom for West Ham’s actual result. I’m hoping for a competitive match but I believe City’s talent will overwhelm the Hammers.
Scott: West Ham United 2-0 Manchester City
As much as I think we’re in good form and City are in relatively poor form, they’re still a class side. Guardiola seems to love playing against us and whilst I think our altered shape will help, I just don’t think it’s going to solve all the issues we routinely have against pass and move of such quality.
I would love to see us make it a competitive match and hold them back until the second half because then a set piece or counter attack may be enough to snatch it. Moyes will line up with the same XI as last week and there will be so much belief in that side so it could be a really fun match.
Jeff: West Ham United 0-2 Manchester City

If there was ever a time for West Ham United to catch a ‘weakened’ Manchester City side, this is it. The Hammers have lost 8 straight to the Cityzens going all the way back – to you guessed it—that magical last season at the Boleyn Ground. Victor Moses powered the club to a 2-1 win at the Etihad.
Nearly every one of those losses since has been a complete and thorough beat down. For this one, Kevin De Bruyne is training but not at 100% and is not a given to play in the match. City’s defence also has been less than stellar so far and Nathan Ake is a match fitness test question.
The Irons need to capitalize as much as they can if those two key players are out. Because even when its ‘next man up’ for Man City, they have the depth to overcome just about every absence or deficiency. Man City also had to play a mid-week Champions League match which they won pretty handily by the way.
But the Hammers find themselves in fine form and have not lost in their last three league matches. They actually sit above City in the table. They have been scoring goals at swift pace—10 in the last 3, including that miracle Lanzini strike vs Spurs!
WHU is confident and should be up for the fight. It wouldn’t be a surprise to me at all if West Ham managed a win and all three points here. But the more realistic view is a 2-2 draw and picking up a nice point against Manchester City at the London Stadium. COYI!
Jack: West Ham United 3-2 Manchester City
Following our dramatic comeback against Spurs, I’ve been filled with unreasonable amounts of optimism going into this fixture. We’re in really good form and this, partnered with City’s injury woes, is giving me hope that we might finally be about to get a result against City.
All our players are back and in contention to play whereas City will be missing Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus. Furthermore, the Cityzens have doubts that Laporte and Kevin De Bruyne will be fit for the game.
It’s really a now or never moment. If we are to get points off City, then we will need to do it tomorrow. That being said it will still be a very challenging game and Moyes’ men will have to be tight at the back if we are to get a result.
Prediction: 3-2 with Antonio, Soucek and Bowen scoring for us and Agüero and Sterling getting Manchester City’s goals.
Adam: West Ham United 1-3 Manchester City
Less shocking of a start and opening 80 minutes for West Ham than their match against Tottenham is on the cards for West Ham, as Manchester City are likely to overpower the Hammers with their starters coming back into the fold.
Kevin De Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte are game-changing players and solidify an already elite team at both ends of the pitch. Well timed runs and quick passing are the key areas of concern when looking at this match, as Moyes’ system can be broken down by both.
Tottenham counter-attacked down Balbuena’s side with ease and his pace could be exposed again. Though, who knows with this team? It could be the reverse that actually happens.
