West Ham United have published a training video from this week and it provides Hammers fans with the first glimpse of new signing Said Benrahma.
The Algerian was signed by West Ham on the domestic deadline day on an initial loan deal, the Hammers do have the obligation to buy Said Benrahma next summer. Due to the lateness of Benrahma’s announcement he was unable to feature in the thrilling Tottenham match.
The 25-year-old winger was made to wait for his West Ham debut and is likely to start on the bench against Manchester City on Saturday. Due to the success of the first team, Benrahma will need to fight his way into the starting eleven.
David Moyes is. expected to be cautious with Benrahma in. much the same way he was with Bowen. The Englishman was given cameo appearances to help him settle in the Premier League and then unleashed in an ‘easier’ fixture against Southampton.
In the video, Benrahma shows some of his class during a training exercise, playing some quick passes and assisting Vladimir Coufal for a goal, with a great cross-field pass. The winger also assists Ben Johnson for a goal with a clever backheel pass. But Benrahma’s best moment is scoring from 20-yards with a clever side-footed finish. (6 minutes 21 seconds)
Manuel Lanzini, fresh of his iconic goal on Sunday, also looks good in the video at times. Pablo Fornals, Benrahma’s competition, made some nice passes and even scored an overhead kick. (5 minutes 55 seconds)
Ryan Fredericks was back in training too which is another positive. The right-back has not played since he picked up an injury in West Ham’s win over Wolves. Coufal was signed due to this injury Fredericks sustained. Before his injury, Fredericks was playing some of his best football in a West Ham shirt.
