West Ham could make January move for Cherries Striker
West Ham only signed three new players during the summer transfer window, the club have started drawing up plans for the January window.
The summer transfer window only shut last week so it might seem early to discuss transfers, but the January window is only ten weeks away. It was reported last week that the club have agreed on a deal for Silkeborg FC defender Frederik Alves as West Ham looks to get business done early.
Over the summer the club were interested in AFC Bournemouth striker Joshua King. There were even reports that he would have been signed instead of Said Benrahma, should the move for the winger fall through.
A move for King never materialised, however, and the club chose to sign Benrahma on loan with an obligation to buy next summer. The Hammers were initially put off King due to Bournemouth’s £17.5 million asking price.
According to new reports, the Hammers are still interested in bringing King to the London Stadium in January. The Norweigan striker is in the last year contract and will be free to negotiate a free transfer at the end of the season in January with any club.
West Ham are hoping to take advantage of this and be able to sign him on a discounted price. It is likely that in the time between transfer windows, King’s price will have dropped significantly. This price drop will be due to the fact it will be the last chance for the Cherries to bring in some money for the striker.
King has a decent record in the Premier League scoring forty-eight goals and provided fifteen assists in 168 appearances. The 28-year-old is also able to play on either wing, meaning he could provide back-up to a number of positions. This utility could be key for West Ham, who already has a relatively small squad.
If the Hammers are able to get a deal agreed for King for around £10 million, they might have found themselves a bargain.
