West Ham’s last ditch effort to sign a defender and Anderson update.
For West Ham fans today’s transfer deadline day has been very disappointing, but now the club are set to try a last-ditch effort to sign a centre-back.
West Ham have failed to sign all of its defensive targets such as Jonathan Tah, Duje Caleta-Car, Antonio Rudiger and many more. There was hope that the Hammers would sign Swansea City’s Joe Rodon before the 16th of October when the domestic window shuts.
There is still hope that the club could still sign a new centre-back though, ExWHUemployee has confirmed. The ITK has suggested that West Ham are going to try and sign Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori on a season-long loan.
Tomori has become available due to the Blues inability to offload Rudiger. West Ham were among the clubs interested in the German, but he rejected the Hammers. Other interested clubs were unable to cover the cost of his wages.
The French defender would be the club’s second new face brought in to the club this summer after the Hammers confirmed a move, Vladimir Coufal, last week. Tomori will be able to offer competition to the backline that has kept clean sheets in its previous two matches in the Premier League.
In other news, Felipe Anderson has agreed to his loan deal with Porto according to reports. The winger has had a mixed last year at the club as he failed to live up to his impressive first season. The move does leave West Ham weak at left-midfield, with only Pablo Fornals able to play in the role.
There is still time for the club to sign a replacement for Anderson however, as long as the player comes from the Championship if they are signed after today’s deadline. This extra time could mean a move for high-rated Said Benrahma of Brentford. Then Algerian has been linked with a move to the Premier League all summer.
