Having already agreed to sell one central midfielder, another could be on his way out of West Ham according to reports.

The Mirror are reporting that West Ham are trying to conclude a deal that would see Jack Wilshere leave the club. The Englishman was signed two seasons ago on a free transfer from Arsenal. The move has been a disaster; however, injuries have ruined Wilshere’s spell with the Irons.

Wilshere has been linked to a move across the pond in the past. The MLS could be a good move for the 28-year-old as the level of football would not be as demanding; this could extend his footballing career.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

The Hammers want to get rid of Wilshere because of his high wages. The former Gunner earns an estimated £100,000 per week. Considering he is the fourth choice midfielder, there are few reasons to keep him on the payroll.

Should Wilshere leave, West Ham could be forced into bringing in a new midfielder as options will start to look thin. After the additional sale of Josh Cullen, the Hammers will only have Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice and Mark Noble as recognised centre-midfielders at the club.

Robert Snodgrass can also be an option for the position, but the club needs better if they are to have a successful season.

West Ham fans are seeing far more exits than incomings during deadline day. Xande Silva and Cullen are already close to exits, whereas Gonçalo Cardoso could also leave the club on loan. There are also talks of a loan move for Felipe Anderson. The club are in talks with Porto over a loan move according to Fabrizio Romano.

In terms of incomings, the club has failed with a move for Bayern Leverkusen’s 24-year-old defender Jonathan Tar. The club have apparently moved on to FSV Mainz 05’s defender Moussa Niakhaté, who would cost the club €15 million.

Should no players come in today, it will not be the end of the world for the Hammers. Premier League clubs can still sign players from the Championship up until October 16th.
