West Ham have been trying to shift a few of their top earner during the transfer window, and now the club are in talks to loan out Felipe Anderson.

Sports Journalist Fabrizio Romano has spread the news that FC Porto are currently in talks to sign the winger on loan for the season. West Ham will want all of Felipe Anderson’s wages paid by any club that signs him which could be a stumbling block.

The Hammers have already sold one left-winger this summer. Grady Diangana left the club to join West Brom in an £18 million deal. This prior sale left Anderson as the only recognised left-winger in the squad.

Despite this apparent thinning of the position, Pablo Fornals has become the first choice for that position. Fornals has been able to take the spot from Anderson because of his better form over the last year.

Anderson only managed one goal and four assists in what was a disappointing 2019/2020 campaign. The Brazilian has impressed in the League Cup, scoring one and assisting two goals in three matches. Although, the 28-year-old has not contributed to a goal in the Premier League so far.

Fornals, on the other hand, has scored one and assisted two goals in the Premier League. This includes the second in the 3-0 win over Leicester City yesterday. Moyes favours Fornals over Anderson not only because of his form but because of his work rate which has been tireless recently.

If Anderson does leave West Ham on a loan deal, it would free up roughly £100,000 p/w in wages and would free up space in the attack. There have been constant rumours that the Hammers are interested in Brentford’s Said Benrahma.

The Algerian could be signed after the deadline tonight and could be sorted up until October 16th. Benrahma had a brilliant season in the Championship last season and has continued to impress into the start of the current season.

With six hours remaining of the transfer window, any deal for Anderson will have to be pushed through in order to go through in time. West Ham are also still trying to pursue a deal for a new centre-back.
