GSH Match Predictions – West Ham at Leicester City
By Justin Wasik
West Ham look to get a second straight league win against undefeated Leicester City at the King Power.
Justin: 2-1 Leicester City
I do hope West Ham play a three at the back system as that seems to have been the most successful formation for the Hammers thus far. That formation will provide West Ham the best chance to nullify Leicester’s pace and attacking prowess.
Assuming this occurs, I do believe West Ham will make a game of it. I expect the first team to play hard and play well against a good Foxes side. However, I do believe Leicester is too talented a team that is in too good of form for West Ham to get anything out this. My heart says draw, but I’ll go with a Leicester win in a hard-fought match, 2-1.
Henry: 3-1 Leicester City
On Sunday, West Ham were on top of the world only to come crashing down after a humiliating defeat to Everton in the League Cup. Leicester will be a very tough match for the Hammers, especially after the Foxes dispatched Man City.

I can’t see the Hammers picking up a result as the Foxes just appear to be too good. The only positive is the fact there will be another huge rotation of the squad and the poor players from the Cup won’t be involved. I don’t think it will be enough however and Leicester will outscore our attack.
Adam: 1-1
A surprise win over Wolves, where the Hammers dominated offensively and cruised defensively, should have the first team brimming with confidence. That being said, Leicester are balanced and can attack thunderously so the challenge could be much greater than last week.
Antonio should get his chances this week and nab the goal. He works extremely hard and will score more goals soon. I’d imagine Vardy gets his name on the score sheet too.
Jack: 2-2
Following our 4-0 thumping of Wolves last weekend, I was slightly more confident than I would have been usually. However, our 4-1 collapse against Everton has brought me sharply back to reality. If we start the same side that beat Wolves, with the addition of new boy Vladimir Coufal at right-back, I think we should be able to give Leicester a good game despite the Foxes 5-2 win over City.
Leicester are a very dangerous side and have been boosted by the returns of Jamie Vardy and Johnny Evans from injury which will make it even more difficult. If West Ham are to get a positive result, then Moyes needs to start making substitutions earlier to help impact and change the game.
It will be a challenging game and the outcome will prove to us whether the 4-0 win over Wolves was a masterclass or a fluke. Prediction – 2-2 with Haller and Bowen scoring for us and Vardy and Maddison scoring for the Foxes.
Jeff: 3-1 Leicester City
So far early in this season, all we’ve seen from West Ham United is inconsistency and toe-stubbing that kills any type of momentum the club may be building on and off the pitch. The surprising and brilliant 4-0 defeat of Wolves last week has been completely forgotten by a mid-week EFL Cup drubbing at the hands of Everton.
Now the new signing of Czech International and former Tomas Soucek teammate Vladimir Coufal on a club-friendly deal ensures the board actually got some reinforcements in before the transfer window closes. That helps supporters forget the Everton match, at least temporarily.
Next up, Leicester City. What to make of this one then? Will the Hammers again roll out the 3-4-3 that has propelled them to their best performances of the campaign so far? Will they actually make a sub in the second half? Or will the form revert back to the season opener?
The Foxes are undefeated with three wins from three and sit atop the table, but they have never won 4 in a row to start a league season— Enter the Hammers! The Irons are winless in their last 11 Premier League away games and have won just 1 of 11 vs Leicester. Ouch. Those aren’t good trends. The fixtures don’t get any easier for West Ham after this one, so any type of result here would be more than welcome. But I just don’t see it. Foxes 3-1
Lou: 3-1 Leicester City
It is so difficult to predict which West Ham side will show up week-upon-week, but even if last week’s side that demolished Wolves happen to make an appearance, an away point or three at top of the table Leicester will be hard to come by.
It would have been easy for the Foxes to crumble as they missed out on top 4 on the final day of last season, but instead, they have picked themselves up and dusted themselves off and have started the season on fire.
As for West Ham, nobody was expecting us to beat Wolves, never mind by a score of 4-0.
We need to return to the five at the back formation that has been working so well in recent weeks, which we didn’t adopt in our League Cup exit to Everton in midweek. I still think that Leicester will have too much for us, however, with the likes of Jamie Vardy and co. In fine form, at the King Power Stadium where we rarely do well at, I see a Leicester win.
