GSH Predictions – West Ham v Wolves
By Justin Wasik
West Ham play their third league match of the season as they host Wolves at the London Stadium.
Another week, another set of Green St. Hammers staff predictions. Who do you think has the correct prediction for the upcoming West Ham match versus Wolves?
Adam: West Ham 0-2 Wolves
Too much to handle for West Ham as a poised Wolves team pushed Manchester City last week and are working off the momentum of another terrific transfer window. West Ham are looking to scrape points and Wolves are continuously pushing for European football, I don’t see them slowing down this early in the season.
The width in which they attack and the potency of their attackers suggests the Hammers will be defending and without possession for much of this match, bar some counter-attacking spells. If Moyes’ men can force some set pieces they’ll have a chance to net a goal or two, but don’t bet on it.
Henry: West Ham 2-2 Wolves
Wolves have started the season very well and were unlucky not to pick up a result against City. They have beaten West Ham in every match since they were promoted, so it will be a very tough match.
If Moyes picks the right team then I believe that we can hurt them. The ‘second team’ that has played in the cup has produced some brilliant football at times and players from that side should be given chances in the Premier League.
Even with these changes Wolves should not be underestimated and will cause all sorts of problems with the players at their disposal, such as Adama and Jimenez.
Having said that I will predict a positive result for the Hammers and I think there will be plenty of goals in the match.
Jeff: West Ham 2-2 Wolves

I didn’t realize that over the past two seasons and four matches; Wolves have beaten the Hammers in all four and outscored West Ham by a collective 8-0. That tempers my enthusiasm a bit for this match.
I am still going to predict a 2-2 draw and the first point of the campaign for the Irons though. The club played better vs Arsenal and deserved a point.
Hopefully, David Moyes (managing remotely somehow?) is smart enough to see what’s happened with his attack in the two Carabao Cup matches and insert some different players into the starting 11, regardless of what formation he chooses to start in. Maybe Irvine will bring on subs sooner than Moyes does to impact the game.
Speaking of formation, Issa Diop is out in this one meaning either Fabian Balbuena or the youngster Aji Alese will have to slot into CB alongside Angelo Ogbanna. Whether its those two, or three, at the back, they will have their hands full with Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore for Wolves, 2-2 Draw COYI
Lou: West Ham 1-2 Wolves
The good news is that I think we’ll finally score a goal against Wolves; the bad news is that I believe we will still come unstuck against them.
It will be interesting to see if Moyes sticks with his five-at-the-back formation that worked successfully (despite the loss) against Arsenal, or if he’ll revert to type.
If he does stick with it, then it’s a question of personnel.
The likes of Seb Haller, Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson all once again played well in the Carabao Cup and will all be hoping that they have done enough to finally warrant a start in the Premier League.
I’m not confident that Moyes will change it up player-wise, however, which will frustrate the fans. We know what Wolves are like by this point – a well organised, ruthless side with players that will hurt you if they are given the opportunity.
I think they will have too much for us in the end, leaving us on 0 points from three games, and with a lot of work to do.
