The Hammers head to the Emirates under the lights this weekend to take on a flashy Arsenal side and need an inspired performance.

One match into the season for the Hammers and everyone is already feeling the pressure. After falling flat on our faces against Newcastle, the Irons are back in action on Saturday night to try and get their first points of the new season. Although this Arsenal side is improved, the Hammers must instill belief in the fanbase and show some signs of life against the Gunners.

One of the biggest concerns for this match will be how the Irons backline can deal with the pace of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. If I were David Moyes, I would start Ben Johnson at left-back and Fredericks at right-back to try and mitigate the pace threat as much as possible.

In the midfield, I would definitely consider bringing in Josh Cullen into the starting XI. The Hammers have been having issues in midfield lately, and Cullen has looked strong in every match he has played in thus far. I would give Cullen a shot to try and balance the midfield and give it some bite.

In terms of the Irons attack, Sebastien Haller is a must-start. The hope is to try and feed Haller and play to his physical style against the shaky Arsenal defence. Although the Gunners have made some new signings at the back, their defence is still very unproven, and I would hope that Moyes goes with a solid counter-attacking lineup.

Essentially, this match is a huge game for all people West Ham. Fan discontent is at an all-time high, players are unhappy, and the manager cannot seem to get the targets he wants into the club in this extended and troubling transfer window.

If the Hammers can stick together and put in a performance we can all be proud of, we could at least get through this season knowing that our players care about putting in the best performances possible for the club and for the fans. However, another shocker could raise the stress levels around the club even more.
