It was a below-average first season in London for Sebastien Haller, one that many fans believed would be improved upon in the 2020/2021 Premier League campaign.

Sebastien Haller has had a very interesting career so far as a member of West Ham United. Haller came to the Hammers in a big-money move from Frankfurt but has yet to find his footing in the Premier League. Although Haller has shined in certain moments so far in England, it has not been the consistent production that Irons fans are craving.

Coming to the Premier League and producing is never easy, however, Haller had all the tools to make it work. Tall, physical in the air, and great at link-up play, Haller should have been off to a flying start in the Premier League yet hit a dry spell last season before an injury took him off his game. Many fans were expecting better for this upcoming season.

That was unable to happen for Haller in the Hammers’ first game of the season, as Haller was selected to David Moyes bench for Antonio. Whilst I understand Antonio was in great form heading into this season, this seems wildly unfair for Haller.

The club is taking a lot of heat from the fans right now and it could not be more deserved. The club have failed in the transfer market, and have not put together a complete squad. That being said, how can you afford to bench your club-record signing whilst looking for a spark to get the team going?

The Hammers already look to be in some danger this year, and the club should be relying on the players they invested in to help them out. Haller being on the bench for the first game is shocking, especially when you consider the fact that he was lighting it up in the pre-season.

With a gloomy next month and a half of fixtures coming up, the Hammers will need to rely on some key players to pick up points, Haller being one of the. Moyes does not even have to drop Antonio, just find a way to play the two together and attempt to have some attacking success. Haller deserves a chance to shine this season.
