West Ham’s attack could be about to become more depleted as Arsenal are interested in signing Felipe Anderson on loan.

Grady Diangana is about to leave West Ham after the club accepted an £18 million bid from West Brom. The exit of Diangana means that Felipe Anderson is the only recognised left midfielder left at the club.

Arsenal are interested in signing Anderson on a loan deal for the 2020/21 season according to the Mirror. The Gunners are willing to give the Hammers £5 million for the Brazilian to sweeten the deal.

West Ham could be tempted to let Anderson go on a temporary basis, as he is one of the highest earners at the club. Furthermore, The winger had a disappointing 2019/20 campaign, only scoring once all season.

The £5 million brought in as the loan fee could be used to fund a deal for Said Benrahma, who is being linked to the club as a replacement for Diangana. The signing of the Algerian would become necessary if Anderson leaves, as the club would have no natural left-midfielders in the squad.

Anderson was one of the players that the club wanted to sell ahead of Diangana, but are yet to receive and concrete interest in a permanent deal. But the club should hold off on accepting a loan deal for him.

As Anderson is the only left-midfielder in the club, he will be crucial to the team in the upcoming season. The Brazilian also still has the potential to be a match-winner in claret and blue and should only leave the club for a more substantial fee.

The potential departure of Anderson would also put more pressure on the club to sign Benrahma, who should not be a priority at the moment. West Ham are in desperate need of better defensive options and letting Anderson go, will mean more money will have to be used to sign an attacker.

If this is the case, then it will mean that West Ham will be starting the new season with the same defence that conceded over sixty goals last season. The Hammers should defintielty think twice about letting Anderson go without plans in place to strengthen the squad.
