In a surprising report, West Ham are open to the idea of loaning out record-signing Haller, Hertha Berlin are interested in bringing him back to Germany.

Sebastien Haller has not reached the heights expected of him at West Ham since his big-money move from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer. The Frenchman has only managed to find the back of the net on seven occasions.

There was a thought that Haller could be sold for the club to find a replacement that might suit the club better and score more regularly. But after a hat-trick against Ipswich Town in a preseason friendly and an evident lack of spending from the club, it might be best to stick rather than twist on the striker.

The report by the Sunday People (30/8; page 56) that is now claiming Hertha Berlin is interested in signing the 26-year-old on a two-year loan deal.  The report also claims that West Ham would be willing to listen to offers for Haller.

This report surely can’t have much truth to it as a loan move for Haller would have no benefit for the Hammers. If he were to be sold for a respectable amount, then at least David Moyes would stand a chance of being able to replace him.

Although, as the club’s finances appear to be in tatters. In a report by financial football news, even if Haller was sold, it would be more likely that the money brought in from his sale would go towards paying off some of the debt that the club is still in.

But a loan move, which would probably see West Ham pay some of his wages and only collect a relatively small loan fee would be a ridiculous decision. What makes it even more ridiculous is that after the sales of Jordan Hugill and Albian Ajeti, Haller is the only recognised senior striker left at the club.

Next. Best case scenario if West Ham sell Declan Rice. dark

West Ham fans are already furious about the lack of players being brought into the club and rumours that Declan Rice might be on his way to Chelsea. Haller leaving on a loan deal could be the catalyst that sends fans back into protest mode ahead of the 2020/21 season.
