West Ham United’s project to move the seats at the London Stadium behind the goals has finally been completed it has been confirmed.

Ever since moving into the London Stadium, many West Ham fans have felt let down about the distance from the stands to the pitch. At Upton Park, the gap between the two was very minimal and contributed massively to the famous atmosphere.

But now the fans on the lower tiers of the Bobby Moore and Sir Trevor Brooking stand will be closer to the pitch. The redesign, according to the London Stadium website, will make the ground more versatile due to the squared-off seats.

One other bonus is with the new seating shape is a reported drop in costs. The new seating cost £5 million to install the system. The system will however, not cost as much to move, it will actually save £1 million a year and reduce the cost of operating the venue.

Now the work is completed the stadium will be ready to improve some fans matchday experience hopefully, as and when fans are allowed back to matches.

This seat redesign, however, will still leave plenty of fans further from the action than they were at Upton Park. There is still a significant gap between the lower and upper tiers, which have become a bit of an eyesore for some fans.

There is also no news on the potential movement of the pitchside seats in the Billy Bonds and West Stand. Now that the stands have been squared off behind the goals, it surely would make sense that those other tiers will be next in line for a re-vamp.

With the seats moving and the new carpet in place, the London Stadium should start to feel little more like home. There is still plenty more improvements that can happen like more claret and blue in the seats and more importantly, better results on the pitch.
