West Ham’s Toughest Stretches Appear to be September through October and Late February through April.

The 2020/21 Premier League fixtures were announced yesterday as West Ham fans around the world finally were able to see who West Ham plays and when.

While West Ham will not play a “top 6” club in the first fixture of the season for the first time in seven seasons, the fixtures in September and October have caused some concern among the East London faithful.

Six of the top eight clubs from last year’s table face West Ham in the first two months of the season, causing many West Ham fans to lose any optimism they once had for the upcoming season and many pundits to believe David Moyes will be the first manager to be sacked.

After hosting Newcastle on September 12, Arsenal, Wolves, Leicester City, Spurs, Manchester City and the champions Liverpool all face West Ham before the end of October.

More from Green Street Hammers - West Ham

November does allow some Hammers fans to relax as the club face relegation candidates Fulham and Aston Villa, alongside Sheffield United at Brammall Lane, but December brings the busy fixture list as six league matches are scheduled for the month, including some enticing matchups.

Manchester United come to the London Stadium on the 5th where West Ham have won the last two meetings. The Irons then visit promoted Leeds United and are at home to Brighton on Boxing Day. In between those matches are two London derbies against Crystal Place at home and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The new year starts at Goodison Park followed by what should be a warm reception for manager Slaven Bilic as he brings his West Brom side to the London Stadium on the 12th of January. February sees Villa, Fulham, and Sheffield United fixtures stacked next to each other again right before the second tough stretch of the season.

The Irons will host Spurs on the 20th of February followed by a trip to the Etihad on the 27th. A tough March and April stretch begins as the club travel to Old Trafford and the Molineaux, as well as host Arsenal, Leicester City, and Chelsea before the beginning of May.

If the club does face relegation again next season, fans surely will be able to take at least a small sigh of relief as no team faced in May finished inside the top 9 this past Premier League season, however, trips to Turf Moor and the Amex have proved tough fixtures in years past. And just like we end the 2020 calendar year, the 2020/21 season will finish facing Southampton.
