West Ham should be offended by Championship offer

With the current focus on boosting the transfer budger, West Ham should be offended by the offer from the Championship for their second-tier striker.
ExWHUemployee and Sam Inkersole of Football.London have both confirmed interest in West Ham fringe striker Jordan Hugill from newly relegated Norwich. Both also confirmed the tight finances the Canaries are battling, confirming the low ball £2m bid.
For reference, Hugill played in 41 games for QPR last season on loan in the Championship and scored 15 goals, adding in one assist along the way. QPR were led offensively by their own starlet and West Ham target Eberechi Eze, but Hugill’s consistent finishing helped them to a comfortably safe season.
The problem with Norwich wanting Hugill is just that, they want him – without and sort of plan or way of getting him. I’d love Leo Messi at West Ham now that he wants out of Barcelona, but just wanting something isn’t good enough, is it?
If West Ham could use Hugill as a make-weight for Jamal Lewis, then we’re talking. A young, English player in the position that Moyes and the Hammers need, who recently was attracting interest from Liverpool before they opted for a different option due to negotiating issues with the Canaries.
Are we seeing a pattern here? While Gold and Sullivan are running West Ham into the ground, Norwich appears to have a negligent board as well. I wouldn’t trust the pair of owners to negotiate a swap +cash deal for Jamal Lewis anyways, but I would bite your hand off it to happen.
It appears the offensive overhaul is more important anyway, as Ex confirmed on this week’s West Ham Way Podcast that the Hammers are still keen on signing the aforementioned Eze from QPR with Hugill acting as a make-weight in that deal.
Either way, the Championship hitman seems to be on his way out and whether he’s headed to QPR or Norwich, as long as there is a young, eager player returning back to West Ham, I’ll be happy. Is that too much to ask?
