After Soucek’s success, West Ham has been linked with moves for two of his former teammates from SK Slavia Prague.

West Ham has had a slow start to the transfer window, only signing Tomas Soucek to a permanent deal so far. Now the Hammers have been rumoured to signing two players from the Czech’s former team. One player is a winger called Lukas Masopust. The eleven-time Czech Republic international has had a decent season for SK Slavia Prague, contributing to twelve goals last season.

Masopust also impressed in European competition. The 27-year-old contributed an assist against FC Barcelona. SK Slavia Prague was very much in a group of death that included the Spanish giants, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund.

The Hammers, according to Czech news source iSPort, have offered £5 million for the winger who’s believed to be a cheaper option than targets Eberechi Eze and Said Benrahma. There is supposedly some more negotiation to be had as SK Slavia Prague value the winger at closer to £8 million.

The other man that could become a Hammer is Czech full-back, Vladimir Coufal. The defender plays on the right side of the defence and could be signed to offer competition to Ben Johnson and Ryan Fredericks.

Coufal is reportedly available for a bargain price of £2million-£4million. The 27-year-old is an excellent defender playing his part in SK Slavia Prague’s impressive twenty-seven clean-sheets last season. The Czech can also contribute at the other end of the pitch; he provided three assists in twenty-seven league appearances.

Coufal could be a very intelligent purchase as Fredericks is likely to pick up an injury at some point and Ben Johnson is still very raw. The Czech has played at the highest level and could provide valuable experience that both of the Hammers current options could learn form.

Should West Ham sign both Coufal and Masopust, they would not be risking much financially due to their low transfer fees. The real risk is if they can transfer their skills to the Premier League, if they adapt like Soucek, the Hammers would have found themselves a couple of bargains.
