West Ham chasing rival Tottenham’s promising full-back to solve defensive problems
The transfer window has been open for a week now and the transfer rumour mill is already spinning its webs, especially around West Ham.
This summer window has much more a winter transfer window, clubs are moving a lot quicker than usual in order to complete deals. West Ham, however, is yet to make any moves in the window, besides turning Tomas Soucek‘s loan into a permanent deal.
The Hammers have already been linked to players such as Eberechi Eze, Said Benrahma, Matty Cash, Antonee Robinson and Gonzalo Montiel as well as a few others. Now the club has been linked to Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker-Peters according to the Daily Mirror.
The young full-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Southampton where he put in some impressive performances. Walker-Peters played ten times for the saints who had a brilliant end to the season. The 23-year-old has plenty of experience at Tottenham as well.

Walker-Peters has played 24 times for Spurs’ first team, scoring one goal and assisting five. The full-back is able to perform admirably goring forward in the Premier League, this is shown by his assist record.
The Englishman could be tempted by a move that could further his career. Tottenham currently has Serge Aurier ahead of him in the pecking order. Even back-up would be difficult as Spurs have plenty of utility players that can cover the position Walker-Peters plays in.
West Ham could be a good option for the youngster, Walker-Peters can play on the right and left-side of defence. Both of these positions need to be addressed by David Moyes this summer and the Tottenham man could be a potential solution.
There a couple of obstacles to overcome before Walker-Peters is playing in West Ham shirt. Firstly is Southampton will be interested in signing the player that they have already had a taste of. Secondly, there will be a price for the defender, it has been mooted that his price will be in the region of £12 million. Although Southampton has also shown interest in West Ham right-back Ryan Fredericks, as their targets may be changing.
Lastly is that the inability for David Sullivan, David Gold and Tottenham’s Daniel Levy to do business, it always proves to be a difficult task.
