Former West Ham favourite, Manuel Lanzini has become a shadow of his old self and looks likely to be set for an exit.

Reports from Turkey have linked West Ham’s Lanzini to a move to Turkish side Fenerbache. David Moyes has been urged to sell players to fund his transfer business this summer. West Ham will be hoping to make at least the transfermaket valuation of £15 million from the Argentines sale.

Lanzini’s time as West Ham’s Jewel has started to dim over the last two seasons. The 27-year-old should be hitting the peak of his powers but instead is struggling to make an impact for the Hammers. Lanzini suffered a horrific ACL injury in the build-up the 2018 world cup. The damage the injury causes stole an international tournament form the midfielder as well as a year of playing time.

There was hope that the Lanzini Hammer’s fans knew and loved had returned during pre-season for the 2019/20 season. Lanzini was one of the best performers; he even scored a fantastic goal against Fulham. Unfortunately, he did not carry the momentum into the competitive season.

Lanzini ended the Premier League campaign as a squad player, losing his spot in the starting eleven to Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen. The Argentine was unable to score this season and only provided three assists in the Premier League. Lanzini was just one of the high-earners not to perform and leave the Hammers in a relegation battle due to this poor form.

David Moyes will be disappointed by the situation as Lanzini was one of his favoured players during his first spell in charge of West Ham. Moyes created a dynamic duo formed of Marko Arnautovic and Lanzini which saw the Argentines best form for the club.

Should Lanzini’s departure be confirmed, it would be easy to remember him for the problematic recent hardships. But Lanzini’s legacy should be the memories of unforgettable moments against Tottenham and Chelsea, before his crippling injury.
