West Ham VS Watford: Match Preview and GSH Staff Predictions
GSH Staff Predictions:
Scott, West Ham United 2-0 Watford
It was an amazing performance from West Ham last week, but there was an element of Norwich already being down and out about it which means we should be careful predicting the same thing to happen again. However, I do think that the Hammers will all but secure their Premier League safety with a win at home.
Watford, until last week at least, has been awful since the restart, and I think we have the ability with the midfield duo of Soucek and Rice to dominate the middle of the park. If we can continue to attack with pace and targeted runs, I think we’ll get a fairly simple victory this Friday evening.
Henry, West Ham United 2-2 Watford
This game could be the difference between survival and staying in the relegation battle. A win may not mathematically make the club safe but it will make catching the Hammers very improbable.
West Ham does have a better squad and is in better form. If the Hammers show the ability that they showed against Norwich then they could blow Watford away with their attacking threat. Watford however, can always cause issues against the Hammer defence.

Ismaïla Sarr and Welbeck are playing really well at the moment and can exploit issues in West Ham’s backline. The likelihood is that Watford will score as they are a much more dangerous side than the Norwich side that offered little going forward on Saturday.
A draw would not be the worst thing in the world if the teams below lose this weekend. Bournemouth has to play a formidable Manchester City side and Aston Villa have a tough match against Everton who will want to bounce back after a 3-0 defeat to Wolves.
Aaron, West Ham United 3-1 Watford
After such a great victory against Norwich, most West Ham supporters would be forgiven for thinking that safety was nearly a formality. Unfortunately, a couple of victories by Aston Villa and Bournemouth has made the Watford one of the biggest of the year.
While I’m already feeling the nerves, I think West Ham can feel confident going into this match. The club is creating a ton of chances, and other than a MOTM performance by Nick Pope they have been scoring at will.
It could be argued that West Ham is playing some of their best football of the year at the right time, with Jarrod Bowen, Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and of course Michael Antonio leading the way. With their Premier League fate in their own control, I predict a 3-1 victory for West Ham.
Jeff, West Ham United 2-1 Watford
West Ham had their best performance of the restart last week vs Norwich. The results of the other matches didn’t go the Hammers way though, so they are not out of the relegation battle quite yet. However, a win over Watford all but guarantees their safety and that’s exactly what is going to be required in this one—a win and three more points.
The Hammers will know the results of all other matches before they take the pitch at London Stadium. Even though they have not been terribly resilient, I don’t think scoreboard-watching matters too much here as both teams are going to be desperate.
Both teams are also coming in hot and I choose to think the club’ s good run of form since the Chelsea match will continue here. The club’s recent record vs the Hornets also points in Iron’s favour. Watford doesn’t score nearly as much as West Ham and they’ve conceded almost as many. That shapes up as a much needed 2-1 Hammer win that perhaps is enough to ensure the results of the final two matches don’t matter at all to West Ham.
Jeremiah, West Ham United 1-0 Watford
Last week’s battle against Norwich was big, and they prevailed. This week again, Watford might even be more significant. West Ham took care of the Hornets earlier this season, and I have a strong feeling they’ll have just enough to do it again.
The big take away from this match is how both sides will handle the pressure of a needed win? Expect a close match all the way through with the Hammers breaking down the walls towards the end. If they win, they’re basically safe. If they lose, more stress next week. COME ON YOU IRONS!
Jack, West Ham United 2-1 Watford
Following our emphatic 4-0 win over Norwich, I’m unusually confident for this game. It is an absolute must-win as gaining all three points will all but ensure our survival in the Premier League. We have also had some great results against Watford, having won our last two games against the Hornets 4-1 and 3-1 respectively.
Whilst Watford have been in decent form, winning their last two games in a row, I don’t think they will be able to cope with our attacking options with Antonio, Bowen and Yarmolenko all in good form. West Ham has been playing really well of late and as long as we don’t switch off, we should be more than able to get all three points.
