West Ham VS Burnley: Match Preview And GSH Staff Predictions
GSH Staff Predictions:
Adam, West Ham United 2-0 Burnley
I do believe the mentality around the club is shifting; the hard matches are officially over (except Man Utd.) and the mid to bottom table teams remain. Three points should be the target here and there is no reason it cannot happen in a dominant way.
Of course, for that to actually happen the team will need to tighten up on defensive lapses which caused two leads to be short-lived against Newcastle. Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek have goals written all over them in my eyes for this match.
With two key injuries for Burnley, it’ll be down to the team shutting down Dwight McNeil and everything else should fall into place!
Louis, West Ham United 2-0 Burnley
While Sunday’s draw against Newcastle was frustrating given the positions we found ourselves in, it was a valuable point nonetheless. We now look complete in the attack, which is in stark contrast to our losses against Wolves and Tottenham, respectively.
Antonio, Bowen and Fornals are all combining well, with just Lanzini looking lost out on the pitch. Yarmolenko would be worthy of a start in his place, but that would mean moving Bowen over from the left where he has been so effective.
Our defence, however, has continued to be shaky, with both goals conceded against the Toon being lapses in concentration. If we can somehow sort that out against a resilient Burnley side, I believe that our attack can get the job done at the other end.
Justin, West Ham United 1-2 Burnley
West Ham has struggled against the Clarets over the last few meetings. Sean Dyche’s team is always well-organized and give 110%. West Ham struggle against those types of clubs and I do not see anything different happening at the OS.
I see Bowen getting a goal but the defence losing the lead and giving up two goals in the second half.
Henry, West Ham United 2-1 Burnley
The Burnley match will be a very difficult game for the Hammers. Current history proves that the Hammers have struggled against the Clarets. Although there is a big difference between this match and the reverse fixture, Roberto will not be in goal for the Hammers.
The match against Burnley at Turf Moor showed just how reliant West Ham were on Lukasz Fabianski. Roberto was at fault for at least two of the Burnley goals, even punching the ball into his own goal following a cross from a corner.
So with West Ham finally starting to look like a threat going forward, having scored five goals in their last two games, they could look to capitalise on Burnley’s weakened defence. The only concern is the Hammers defence.
West Ham has conceded two goals per game since the restart, so if the Hammers are to win the match these frailties need to be addressed quickly.
Jeff, West Ham United 2-1 Burnley
West Ham has found their goal-scoring threat as of late and that could bode well for the Hammers in this mid-week fixture vs Burnley. The problem is on the other side of the pitch where WHU can’t keep a clean sheet if they had to.
Chris Wood is the man to mark for the Irons as he has torn them up scoring six goals in his last five vs West Ham. With both of these clubs in the form at the moment, the nod goes to the Hammers playing at home and scoring more goals than Burnley. All three points for West Ham; 2-1 COYI.
So a positive result has been predicted by the GSH staff. A win that would see West Ham go two points behind fifteenth placed Brighton and seven clear of the drop zone, depending on over results.
