Newcastle VS West Ham: Match Preview And GSH Predictions
GSH Staff Predictions:
Henry, Newcastle United 1-1 West Ham United
Newcastle away is always a fixture I try to look past, West Ham has never really excelled up north. Despite, winning this fixture last season, it would be a good result for the Hammers to get a point from an impressive looking Magpies team.
One thing that could benefit West Ham is Newcastle’s injury worries. If all the players listed above are indeed absent for the game then my prediction will quickly turn to a win. West Ham having players returning should make them stronger than a weaker Newcastle side.
Adam, Newcastle United 0-2 West Ham United
My heart rate is still at an uncomfortable level after that Yarmolenko winner vs. Chelsea, so maybe its the endorphins making this call, but I can see West Ham dominating an impressive Newcastle team based on the self-belief and momentum they earned against the Blues.
Now, I will fully take the walloping I’ll deserve if this game goes sideways, but I just don’t buy it. Haller will be back, Rice and Soucek will be rock steady in the midfield, and the back four can contain anyone with enough composure. Please, West Ham, prove me right!
Jeremiah, Newcastle United 2-2 West Ham United
Newcastle has certainly come out of the layoff looking pretty solid. Up until last week, West Ham looked ready to spend their 125th year down in the Championship. Now, things might be looking different, however, not by a lot.
David Moyes did use tactics, but I’m still not overly convinced. The Hammers room the double from Chelsea and that is nothing to look lowly on, but can they do it again? To an extent, yes but this match will be slowed down, in the end, making it a point to both sides.
Another slow start for West Ham will leave them looking up at the half but only for a bit before tying things up.
Louis, Newcastle 1-1 West Ham United

After Wednesday’s glorious victory against Chelsea, the good vibes have returned to West Ham, and it is no longer all doom and gloom.
It would, therefore, be easy for me to predict a win against Newcastle on Sunday, but perhaps that would be slightly naive. The Magpies have exceeded expectations this season under Steve Bruce, as many predicted they would get relegated under his management. They are now well and truly safe and inform, after doing us a massive favour by hammering Bournemouth in their last outing.
I can’t predict a loss, though, after such a good performance and result against Chelsea, and a draw wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, with other relegation candidates around us facing tough fixtures.
I think we’ll be taking a point back to east London with a Jarrod Bowen goal to continue his outstanding form.
Aaron, Newcastle United 1-1 West Ham United
After a thrilling 3-2 victory over a Chelsea that gives the Hammers a 3 point gap over the relegation zone, they travel up to the Northeast to take on an in-form Newcastle squad. This game marks the beginning of what most consider an easier stretch in West Ham’s fixture list, but Newcastle is typically a tough place for them to get a result. Whether St. James’ Park is as intimidating without fans in the stand remains to be seen.
It’ll be markedly different game compared to the previous three matches, as West Ham will be expected to have much more of the ball as Newcastle sets up to be difficult to break down under Steve Bruce.
David Moyes will have to ensure that the players remain focused as this has the potential to be a trap game after such a big victory on Wednesday. With a little more possession, this will be a great opportunity for the quality in the attacking third to shine, but it won’t be easy as I expect a 1-1 result.
So most of the staff at Green Street Hammers believe it will be a score draw for the Hammers against the Magpies. Let us know your predictions in the comments or on Twitter.
