West Ham vs Tottenham: Preview and GSH predictions
West Ham will make the short trip to North London as they take on local-rivals Tottenham Hotspur, the Hammers are on the search for their first points since the restart.
Tottenham had a good result on their footballing return, the Spurs earned a 1-1 draw against Manchester United. West Ham, however, underperformed massively in their 0-2 defeat at home to Wolves.
West Ham will be looking for a better performance away at Tottenham on Tuesday evening. The Hammers are deep in a relegation battle, they are only out of the bottom three by goal difference. Tottenham will be a tough match but if West Ham can nick a result it could help their cause massively.
Manager David Moyes has confirmed that Sébastien Haller and Robert Snodgrass remain sidelined through injury. This blow to the Hammer has been softened by the news that key defender Angelo Ogbonna is fit to start against Spurs; Ogbonna’s inclusion means that the backline should be back to full strength.
The return of the Italian veteran will also allow Declan Rice to return his position as the defensive midfielder. Rice should be expected to line-up alongside Tomas Souček. Moyes could also mix up the line-up after the disappointment on Saturday.
The West Ham midfield was simply outshone by Wolves, one thing Moyes could do to counteract this for Tottenham is by dropping Mark Noble. The Captain looked slow and off the pace against Wolves. Injury-prone Jack Wilshere is reportedly fit and could be given a chance to save his career.
Tottenham won the reverse fixture 2-3 at the London Stadium. West Ham was unlucky not to get a result in that game. Roberto was the goalkeeper on the day and did little to keep the score down. The Hammers did stage a comeback, scoring two late goals, and had a third ruled out correctly by VAR.
West Ham does, however, possess a 100% record against Tottenham at their new stadium, so there could be potential for another upset caused by the Hammers. Remind yourself of better times with the video below.
