As footballs return gets ever nearer, West Ham’s preparation has taken a positive turn through a 4-1 win over Championship side QPR.

West Ham has had some ups and downs during the lockdown. The good news is key players returning from injury such as Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere and Ryan Fredericks to the bad news of Jeremy Ngakia‘s contract rejection.

The win against Queens Park Rangers is definitely the biggest positive to take from the clubs preparations before the season restarts. While no official reports have been released from the match it is believed that West Ham won the contest by a comfortable three-goal margin.

The playing staff featured key members of the West Ham squad such as Declan Rice, Jarrod Bowen, Mark Noble and Sébastien Haller all made appearances. They were joined by January signing Tomáš Souček, who has recently extended his loan deal with the club.

Some fringe players also got a run-out as the whole team looks to play a part in the run-in. Promising young attacker Xande Silva, unreliable Wilshere and the inconsistent Arthur Masuaku were all given chances to impress David Moyes.

Of course, friendly games don’t count for a huge amount, but Moyes and his players can be buoyed by the result. Especially, as Haller, Michail Antonio, Masuaku and Albian Ajeti were the players to put QPR to the sword.

The positive of these players scoring is they are exactly the players that need to make sure their eyes are in once the Premier League returns. A goal for Haller is brilliant news as he will be a key player for the Hammers going into the run-in.

Another bonus is a goal for Ajeti. The ex-Basel player has found opportunities hard to come by since he joined for £8 million last summer. The club has been linked too many strikers in recent weeks, but if Ajeti can grab this chance he could be saving the club millions on a new replacement.

This result should fill the club with the confidence of playing their way out for relegation danger. The Hammers are also set to play Crystal Palace in a similar training match in the coming days as they look to prepare for the Premier League’s curtain re-raiser against Wolves on the 20th June.
